binkw32.dll is the Bink video codec - the technology thousands of games use to play their intro movies and cutscenes. Like UnityPlayer.dll, it is not a Windows file: every game carries its own copy in the game folder. When Windows cannot find it, that copy is gone or damaged - an antivirus took it, the installation broke, or the game's files were altered. The fix is restoring the game's own file, never downloading a loose one.

Check the antivirus quarantine first and restore the file if it is there (add the game folder to the exclusions). Then verify the game files in its launcher - Steam, GOG or Epic put the exact original copy back.
Modified game executables often sit next to binkw32.dll, and heuristics sweep the whole folder - the codec disappears together with the flagged file.
An interrupted install or a partial copy from an old disc leaves the game without its video codec - verification or reinstall restores it.
Patched or repacked game files frequently break the link to binkw32.dll or replace it with an incompatible version. There is no clean fix for an altered copy.
Bink has many versions and games are picky about theirs. A downloaded copy usually trades "missing" for "crashes during videos" - and carries the usual DLL-site risk.
Honest note: exclusions are for games from official sources. If the game came from somewhere questionable, the antivirus may be right - do not whitelist it blindly.
No - it is RAD Game Tools' video codec licensed by game studios, and every game ships its own copy in its folder. That is why the fix always goes through the game's installer or launcher, not through Windows.
Versions differ between games and the codec is sensitive to it: videos may crash or show black screens. The launcher's verify function restores the exact version your game expects - for free.
Same codec, newer generation for 64-bit games. The fix is identical: antivirus quarantine check, then file verification in the launcher.
Outbyte PC Repair checks the system and shows what it found - then waits. Nothing is applied without your OK, and a restore point lets you undo changes.
