Home / Driver Updater / Phone not recognized
You plug in the phone, it starts charging and that is all: no folder in Explorer, or “MTP USB Device” with a yellow triangle in Device Manager. Sometimes the fix is on the phone, sometimes it is a cable, and often it is a Windows driver: the USB port, the MTP entry or the ADB interface. The free scan shows what the connection is missing on the PC side.
Your PC is currently running: Windows
The phone is clearly connected, Windows plays the sound, and Explorer shows nothing or an empty folder. Photos cannot be copied to the PC.
Device Manager lists the phone under Other devices or Portable Devices with a warning mark, or shows “MTP USB Device - driver error” while installing.
The brand tool or a transfer app says the USB driver is missing, and the search leads to driver packs of unknown origin.
USB debugging is on, but the PC shows “Android Composite ADB Interface” without a driver, and the phone never asks to allow the computer.
A free scan can identify the installed hardware and show available driver information.
These are the standard Windows checks - they take a few minutes and sometimes do the trick:
The weak spot of the manual route: at the "Update driver" step Windows searches only its own catalog, which is often missing or outdated for the exact model - it can report that the best driver is already installed even when a newer one exists. The free scan checks your devices against a database of 1,000,000+ drivers, so one pass shows whether better versions are available.
The application identifies the hardware installed on your PC and checks the current driver information.
See detected devices, installed driver versions and available updates. Nothing changes during the scan.
Review the results and decide which available updates you want to apply.
A license is required only if you choose to apply the available updates.
| Searching manually | Automatic detection |
|---|---|
| −Find the exact device model | ✓Installed hardware is identified |
| −Search by Hardware ID | ✓No Hardware ID required |
| −Compare versions and architecture | ✓System and driver details are shown |
| −Check devices separately | ✓Multiple devices are checked together |
The scan identifies the phone's USB entries by their hardware IDs, not by the name Windows shows, and matches them against the driver database: USB controllers, the MTP entry and the ADB interface. It is a driver tool, not a replacement for Smart Switch or the brand's PC app, and it does not include flashing tools such as Odin.
No. adb and fastboot are command-line tools from Google's platform-tools for developers. The scan covers the Windows driver that lets the PC see the phone, which is what the tools need to work, not the tools themselves.
If the phone is in Charging only mode or the cable has no data lines, no driver changes that - the first two steps above solve it. If the MTP entry is broken or the USB controller driver is outdated, that is where the update helps. The scan shows you which case you are in before anything is installed.
No. Nothing changes during the scan. Driver updates are applied only after you review the results and choose what to update.
Yes. Each detected item can be reviewed, applied or skipped individually. Backup and restore options are available before updates are applied, so a previous driver version can be restored if necessary.
The button downloads Outbyte Driver Updater, a Windows desktop application. The website itself does not scan your computer in the browser - the check runs in the application after you install and start it.
The scan and results are free. A license is required only if you choose to download and apply the available updates. Current pricing and license terms are shown before purchase.
Supports Windows 11 and 10 · Uninstall anytime via Settings → Apps · If no updates are found, the scan still shows the current driver state of your devices.
